The Technology Center for Electron Beam and Plasma Technologies and Engineering carries out research and production activities, manufactures equipment and installations, develops and implements technologies in the field of special metallurgy (electron beam and plasma melting and refining of metals), technologies for electron beam and plasma welding, surfacing, coating, thermal metallization, surface modification and thermal treatment of machine parts and tools in vacuum and controlled atmosphere, as well as in the field of materials analysis with electron and ion beams. The EBLT TC was established on the basis of fundamental research of the Laboratory of Electron Beam Technologies of the Institute of Electronics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The Center for ZLPTT, together with the Institute of Electronics - BAS, conducts fundamental and applied scientific research and trains doctoral students in the field of electron beam and plasma technologies and engineering. In its activities, the Center for ZLPTT cooperates with the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute "V.I. Ulnov (Lenin), ISS "Paton" - Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR - Kiev, VZI "Lenin" - Moscow, Scientific and Production Association of Powder Metallurgy - Minsk and other institutes and universities in the USSR, with the Technical University - Sofia, scientific and production associations and institutes in the Bulgarian HP; with the companies "Hobart" - Austria (USA), "Leibold" - Germany and with other well-known companies and scientific organizations abroad.
